Hometown Hero Banner Program for 2020 - 2021

This program, which many towns and cities across America have adopted in recent years, is meant to be a tribute to those men and women who are serving or have served in the military or serve or have served in the role of first responders as members of police, fire, and medical emergency departments.  Banners are mounted on light polls down Route 30 in Schellsburg, Pennsylvania.  This year the program honors those teachers, pastors, or members of the community who have served in an exemplary manner and selflessly.

If you or anyone you know is thinking about waiting until the next round to allow others to be the first, while that is thoughtful, it would be better to fill the light poles on the first round as I do believe that once people see how big, beautiful and honorable these banners are, we will have an increased response next year.

The hometown does not need to be strictly Schellsburg.  In one instance, the honoree is from Johnstown, but spent a good deal of time at Shawnee Lake.  Also, one person is putting both his mother and father on a banner together - totally doable and a great idea!  Whateverconnects you or your loved one, who you wish to honor, to our area, is what makes it work!

One last thing, if you are unable to find a picture of the person you wish to honor in uniform, no problem because whatever picture you choose is what we can put on the banner.  We have some really nice pictures so far!
